As a veterinarian you are in the perfect position to help animals around the world. Your wide range of skills can be used on all the AEI Experiences – we need people like you who are passionate about animals. AEI Experiences offer you the opportunity to work with animals you are comfortable and familiar with or gain experience with new species or new projects. Our partners provide training while on placement, allowing you to build on the foundations of your education and experience. Whether you would like to learn new things, volunteer in a different capacity, or share your skills – AEI has the Experience for you.

AEI Experiences are non-structured placements – built around your interests, your particular skill set and your schedule. AEI Experiences are project-based, working with Placement Partners that are well established in their communities. If you are interested in volunteering your professional skills, please contact us. We can develop a placement for you that will allow you to contribute to a valuable project and provide you with the opportunity to travel and experience the country in which you are visiting.

May include: handling the animals, collecting samples (such as hair, fecal samples), feeding the animals, cleaning enclosures, working with orphaned animals.

May include: blood collection, lab work, IV catheter placement, anesthetic monitoring, administering medication, tube feeding, assisting with dentistry, assisting with x-rays.

Dogs in Bhaktapur Nepal.

Help Street Dogs.There are more than 20,000 street dogs in Kathmandu. Working with this Placement Partner will have you humanely treat the street dog problem through a community changing spay, neuter and release program. Medical, education and animal care positions are available. Help this placement partner create a city where cruelty towards animals is eliminated.

Clinical days with local rescues and clinics will mean our team will not only be providing care to dogs and domestics but also wildlife like monkeys and sloths.

Humane dog and cat population management and education.Their mission is to reduce the pet overpopulation problem through an ethical and humane program. This organization focuses their efforts on three main objectives. Their educational campaign promotes responsible pet ownership and targets school-aged children and the general public. Their spay and neuter clinics offer low cost pet sterilization to members of the community.

Rehabilitate sick, injured, orphaned and displaced wildlife in West Australia.This is an opportunity of a lifetime - working with native Australian wildlife in a quiet bushland setting, surrounded by gorgeous National Park. Wildlife in Guatemala.

Rehabilitate animals rescued from the animal trafficking trade. Volunteers at this rescue center help in feeding and caring for the animals at the center which include parrots, macaws, spider and howler monkeys, margays, ocelots, boa constrictors (pictured), coatimundis, tayras and kinkajous.  Nearly all of these animals have been seized from smugglers and are very young, needing constant care and attention.

 Provide care for sick and injured adults sea turtles.You will volunteer on a project in the Osa Peninsula which offers volunteers a unique opportunity to help with a scientific study involving Green Turtles and Hawksbill Turtles. Volunteers assist with in water research and conservation projects to assess the threats that sea turtles are exposed to in the area.

Humane animal population management.Already in poor health, it is common for these stray dogs to die from starvation and from lack of shelter. The feral dog population also poses a very serious health risk to the people of Sierra Leone through dog bite injuries and the transmission of rabies.

4 Week Wildlife Rehabilitation Medicine Course in Guatemala.

vets in GOne on one volunteering and teaching with wildlife veterinarians.Their Wildlife Programs for Veterinary Students will provide instruction in the capture, management and husbandry of Primates, Psitacines and Reptiles and will include hands-on instruction with medical treatments and surgery (as cases permit), sample collection and processing and necropsy techniques in a variety of species.
